Rebekah Stallsworth, Welcome Center Manager and founding family member, shares her experience of the holidays at Royalty Pecan Farms:
My favorite holiday. Even as a child, it beat out Christmas, Easter, and 4th of July.
Growing up on a pecan farm, the winter holidays meant busy. Busy with pecan harvest. Busy with the store. Busy with shipping. Busy with holiday celebrations. The Fall and early Winter was just busy.
Thanksgiving often gets overlooked as the random holiday between Halloween and Christmas. For me, though, it holds a special place in my heart. As a kid, Thanksgiving meant good food with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It meant watching football while the jokes flew. It meant sitting around the table nibbling on yet another piece of pie while we play cards, like 7 Up, 7 Down, or dominoes -- Chicken Foot and 42 being the family favorites.
Thanksgiving has always been a welcome respite in the middle of the busyness. Now as an adult, it's a time to reconnect with my kids who have missed seeing their Mama at breakfast and supper, and my husband who's been holding down the fort at home. It's a time to take a deep breath and refocus on what really matters. But most importantly, it's a time to re-energize so we can continue to serve our amazing customers, who really are just an extension of our Farm Family.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us to the rest of our Farm Family!
