What’s Happening on the Pecan Farm
- Getting our new & enhanced website ready to launch.
- Finding new products for our gift shop & online store.
- Irrigating the orchard.
- Prepping the cleaning plant & harvest equipment.
We hope to begin harvesting toward the end of October, and the crop is looking great this year! The trees are healthy, the leaves are broad and green, and the pecan clusters are developing nicely.
We’ve been working hard to keep the trees irrigated and healthy during this very hot, very dry growing season. We’re done with spraying and fertilizing, but we’re continuing to irrigate the orchard. This month, we’ll be concentrating more on preparing everything for harvest. That means getting the orchard floor in shape by picking up limbs, grading and smoothing the ground, and mowing. We’ll also continue inspecting the harvest equipment and cleaning plant, making repairs as needed.
Along with working hard in the orchard, we’ve also been working on finding new products for our gift shop and setting up our new, enhanced website!
The new site will have some interesting features, including helpful information about growing pecans, health benefits of pecans, recipes, special events, and more!
Our new, streamlined shopping cart will also feature delicious treats from our growing line of Signature Pecan Delicacies: pies, breads, toffee, granola, shortbread biscotti, and an assortment of roasted, candied, and flavored pecans.
Visit our gift shop to sample our Pecan Delicacies and choose your favorite!
