What’s Happening on the Pecan Farm
Pecan harvest season continues! During this time of year, we’re shaking trees, gathering pecans, and getting them graded and ready to sell. At our pecan cleaning plant, we only deal with fresh, natural pecans that are still in the shell. Once we have a enough pecans harvested to fill up a truck load, we send them to a shelling plant, where the pecans are removed from their shells and sorted into halves and pieces.
As harvest season continues, we’ll have a few different pecan varieties in our gift shop and online shop. Many people like to visit our gift shop, which is located on Highway 21 between Bryan/College Station and Caldwell, and sample all the different varieties of inshell pecans that we have available. We usually have Kiowa, Gracross, Choctaw, Cheyenne, and Desirable at our gift shop throughout the year. Which one is your favorite? Can you tell a difference? Did you even know there were many different types of pecans?
