What’s Happening on the Pecan Farm
As Harvest Season comes to a close, the Cleaning Plant is closed down and harvest equipment is cleaned, repaired, and put away.
By this time the pecan trees are completely dormant, so they can withstand hard freezes without ill effect. The roots have slowed down their growth significantly but not stopped completely. Since the ground does not freeze they can stay actively growing all year long. Therefore, winter moisture is crucial for tree health.
