I’m sure you’ve had the feeling of satisfaction that comes from completing a laborious task then standing back, as it were, to enjoy the results. Perhaps you've experienced that feeling after surveying a freshly tilled and newly planted garden in the spring; a room in your home that you’ve painted and rearranged; a Christmas tree perfectly decorated ...
December marks the culmination of an entire year of effort here at Royalty Pecan Farms, and I feel satisfied.
We started the year by hedging the trees. This opened up the rows to allow life-giving sunlight to penetrate deep into the canopy and produce photosynthetic energy. We also chiseled every middle with a four-foot shank to let the spring rains penetrate deep into the soil and invigorate the roots.
As the growing season continued, we enjoyed an explosion of the ladybug population. They helped us care for the pecans by feeding on the damaging aphids and other sap-sucking insects.
We spent the summer feeding the trees and irrigating them through our water-conserving sub-surface drip system. Finally, best of all, we harvested the bountiful crop.
What a feeling of satisfaction we at Royalty Pecan Farms enjoy as we bring in trailer after trailer of the “fruits” of our labor. It’s even more rewarding for us to provide you the best of the best: premium pecans that we have worked so hard to produce.
You can see and hear about all of our annual activity when you take one of THREE tours that we offer every Saturday during the month of December at 11:00 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2:00 PM. Visit our web site for details and tickets.
Merry Christmas to all our farm friends!
